I am an idealist wanderer through wonders of the world. I am curious to fault. I seek to disassemble, decipher, and decode anything and everything. I am always up for a challenge, especially those of the impossible kind. I am, typically, thinking. I am content when I’m not hungry-- soups, barbeque, and chocolate smoothies fuel my persistence. I'm a default smiler, much to my disadvantage when trying- and typically failing- to tell a lie or express sarcasm. I am a waterfall, slow and steady. I’m riding my bike when I'm not running, swimming, or calculating. I do not fear bees or horse flies. I'm an order of magnitude bigger than those things. I am never in the same place for too long- unless that place is Peachtree City, the place where I am and have been for my whole life.
I like things to follow systems, patterns, and order, and I like to love the unexpected. I cherish overwhelming discovery, when my mind feels like Galileo viewing the vastness of trillions of little lights, billions of miles apart, and I feel so, so, incredibly, insignificantly tiny-- I like that I exist. I like it when I can giggle like a kid at the deep voice of the man counting down to blast off over the radio: "10, 9, 8..." (must read this in a low voice). I like a fantastic movie that warms the heart and leaves me detached from the world. I like to travel by plane, but cars do well too. I like the feeling of personal accomplishment. I like rockets, shuttles, probes, and planets. I like cooking up a brand new recipe in the evenings, and I like to steal so many bites that most of the meal is gone before it's finished. I like a diverse personal soundtrack; I like to like living.
I believe that food combinations should be judged by how they taste, not sound. I believe that mixing all kinds of flavors and seeing what happens is never a bad idea. I believe that true strength comes from the brain. I believe no place is more important than home, but that we must jump at every opportunity to explore beyond it .I believe nobody does anything for “no reason.” God placed us all here for a reason. I believe actions which intentionally harm others are forgivably inexcusable. I believe in the infinite powers of music to make myself focus. I believe technology holds the key to solving so many problems, and causing just as many. I believe in moving forward to stay balanced. (my bike and Einstein taught me that one). I believe that movies are best experienced the first time, and-- I believe-- California is still on fire. At least, I know where to find out.
I am tired of rushing. Punctuality is... acceptable... but I like to slow down and enjoy the world. Hurrying causes stress, which I am also tired of. I am tired of sports for money and politics instead of the spirit of the game. I am tired of stubbornness and refusal to admit mistakes. I am tired of hearing about all the conflict, despair, and pain throughout the world while those with power to help do nothing but give condolences. I am ironically tired of playing the blame game. Let’s spend more time worrying about how to fix problems than who caused them.
I do not care for social media as a bragging tool, yet I do not care being for anti-social. I prefer to spend time with friends in the real world. I do not care for taking myself too seriously. I do not care for the New York Yankees or the San Francisco 49ers. I do not care for sprinting, drowning, politicians, plain pasta, or the overuse of curse words. I do not care for giving up, ever. Finally, despite this paragraph, I do not care for pessimism or close-mindedness.
I am in favor of spending time in the fresh air, listening to the sounds of the trees and planes alike. I am in favor of the occasional booming thunderstorm to remind us how small we are and I am so incredibly grateful to be blessed with a house that allows me to say such a thing. I am in favor of the single transferable vote, laws to save the environment before it's too late, and delicious foods which make your mouth water just thinking about them. I am in favor of technologies like autonomous cars and drones. I am in favor of laughing about life with friends and internet nerds who make educational videos. I am in favor of Atlanta sports teams, Delta Airlines, and Pixar making heartwarming films for all eternity. I am in favor of smiling for at least half the day and this is where I stand.
